Car Craft 2004, Bingley - March 2004
So the show season has started and at ‘Bingley’ as it’s become know, we all turned up, were directed to where we had to go, got our admission tickets and stamps on our hands to be able to go outside and then re-enter the halls on both days. A nice atmosphere and one that will hopefully be present for the rest of the year.
The show itself was pretty good too, for the first time in a long time I was able to purchase all the spares and bits that I wanted. The manufacturer's display area also had a good range of new developments to peer at; even if my conclusion was that I would stick with the Duttons I have, rather than having to sell them all and still take out a loan to purchase some of the kits on display!!
The only downside to the whole weekend was the attendance, all the manufactures and traders that I spoke to said that they felt attendance was down on previous years. This showed on the Dutton stand; whilst we still sold regelia and gained new members as well as some members renewing general numbers of people were lower than in previous years possibly due to the poor weather particularly on Sunday. Our initial thought was perhaps the low attendance was due to the wrong date being given on the show guide or perhaps the fact that the hall where the owners clubs were displaying was not mentioned in the show guide or clearly signed from the main hall, (a mental note to take some direction signs for next year) but as that info was only available once at the show it cannot have been the case.

| A typical looking Phaeton, apart from the twin SUs poking through the bonnet. | Not a Dutton, but Andy Griffith's Jeffery. |
