Dutton Owners Club Isle of Wight Tour 2002

For the second year a number of Duttons, over 10, with some there for part of the time, made the trip for a week on the Isle of Wight. The full story of this wonderful trip is described in Dutton Torque No.97 August 2002 but here are some extra pictures to those in the magazine, and also some that appeared in the magazine.

If you're not taking your Dutton, then you don't need a car ferry, and can provide your own boat. But this is not the recommended type of boat especially on grass.
The scenery

No photos are complete without a shot of The Needles. Viewed from the lookout point at the Needles Battery.

Old gun at the battery with Alum Bay in the background. A clearer picture of Alum Bay.

Mark and Geoff study the note chalked on the track by those who didn't go round the Battery. A close up, yes it says coffee not beer!! That's because we were driving, once the cars were safely on the camp site it was another matter.

By The Needles is evidence of Britain's little known space program. Rocket testing base viewed through the broken blast window of the test room.

Waterfall at the entrance to Shanklin Chine. View of the cliffs at the other end.

Old engine mount gives up after suffering the non too smoooth roads on the IoW. A sticking throttle cable at the autotest.

Many thanks to then for inviting us along to their event and the prizes for fastest and slowest Duttons.

Below are links to pictorial reviews of some of the shows from previous years. Not all the shows are here because the 'DOC photographer' (i.e. Piers) doesn't go to them all and no one (apart from Pete - thanks) sends him photos of the cars there, although at Newark last year his assistant's camera packed in.
